Adults living in the HSE Dublin and North East region are encouraged to apply
The HSE Dublin and North East is inviting applications for its newly established Patient and Service User Council.
It's a key initiative aimed at strengthening the voice of patients, carers, and service users in shaping local health and social care services.
The council will serve as a vital advisory body to regional leadership, ensuring that the lived experiences of those using services are at the heart of service development and improvement.
Who Can Apply?
Adults living in the HSE Dublin and North East region—including North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, and Cavan—who have experience using health or social care services, or supporting someone who has, are encouraged to apply. No formal qualifications are required; personal experience and a passion for improving care are what matter most.
The HSE is committed to building a diverse and inclusive council and strongly encourages applications from under-represented communities and individuals with varied perspectives.
Why Join?
Council members will be part of a small, dedicated group helping to shape hospital and community services across the region. Members will have the opportunity to share feedback, highlight what works well, and identify areas for improvement.
Fiona O’Driscoll, Regional Patient and Service User Experience Lead at HSE Dublin and North East, described the opportunity as a pivotal moment for the region - “I am excited to work with the regional Patient and Service User Council in the future, which represents a powerful opportunity to listen, learn and collaborate with people who use our services every day. Their insights will help us shape more accessible, equitable and integrated care across the region.”
What is Involved ?
Members will attend regular meetings every 2–3 months and may participate in additional projects or activities. The estimated time commitment is approximately 30 hours over 12 months. While the role is voluntary and unpaid, expenses will be reimbursed and access needs will be supported.
