The Irish Blood Transfusion Service say they are particularly low on O- and AB- stock

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service has issued an appeal for donors as stock levels drop to just two days supply in some cases.

The IBTS says they are appealing specifically for donations of O- and AB-, with the service holding just two days supply of both types.

In order to facilitate donations of blood, a number of clinics are being run by the service.

A clinic in Dundalk runs until tomorrow before additional clinics open in Ardee and Duleek next month.

The Dundalk clinic is being held in the Gateway Hotel and will be open tomorrow from 4pm until 8pm.

Next month, clinics will be held in Duleek National School on 1st September from 5pm until 9pm and in Ardee in the Parish Centre on the 2nd September from 3.45pm until 8pm.
